Bug Description

When I try to run the latest live-cd of ubuntu-jaunty alpha 3 or 8.10 on my HP Elite 6930p (Intel 4500MHD graphics, Intel Wifi Link 5300AGN) the booting process hangs at the beginning second part of the boot (first part is where the progress bar goes back and forth)

If I switch to the terminal I see the following message appearing

BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 61s [modprobe 2981]

Hi Jaap,

Is this still an issue with the more recent Jaunty Alpha 4 release? If so, can you boot with the quiet and splash options removed - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies#Bootloader . Are there any additional messages you see?
