Bug Description

*package assigned to wild guess, based on memory of today's updates*

kubuntu dapper

I cannot get online (eth0 has no ip address) and X doesn't work, but ping 127.0.0.1 works.

(when I have no networking, or X I suspected firewall = block all (yes it has happened to me before), but lo works)

Several errors were thrown up at boot then when X failed, it dropped me to command line. Alternate kernels also have the same problem
(2.6.12(?)...2.6.16 386&686).

When I manually "sudo dhcp" I get permission errors.

ARG: Sorry about the mess I made of this post; It's my first _launchpad_ bug report. I didn't realize editing would cause new posts to email thread. My future reports will improve as I learn this system.

Thanks for your bug report. Please file it to only one package to begin with, and file separate bugs for separate issues.

Does "sudo ifdown eth0; sudo ifup eth0" solve the network problem?

Changed in sysvinit:
status: Unconfirmed → Rejected

For the X problem, you will need to provide exactly what error messages you see. And attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Please open a new bug for this.

This bug seems to be OK now.
As for giving you Xorg's log and the test you'd like me to run-----
The bug was filed approx 1 month ago. Not much use to you now. (I send
bug reports for you, not for me)

Please file this bug in the round bin.

Thank you for your patience and hard work.
