every other audio file refuses to play

Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem

the ones that don't play get as far as displaying the recording time, and then nothing. I can PAUSE and PLAY and these clicks are acknowledged but not executed.

mostly wav files from vonage.com voip service.

Thank you for your bug report. Is it only totem that these files don't play in? Could you try another player? When the files don't play, is it just that you hear no audio or does the time not progress either? Could you please try running totem from the terminal, playing one of the files that don't work, and posting any messages that appear in the terminal?

I have a similar problem.

After each movie I play, exit Movie Player, and then again try to play a movie I get the no sound. The pictures of the movie are shown, but not smoothly.

If I remove ~/.gstreamer-0.10/registry.i486.bin before I start the second time, the sound comes back.
