Bug Description

The only current suggested layouts for your "Library Structures" under Edit > Preferences are "Folder Structure": Artist/Artist - Album, Artist/Album, Artist - Album, Album, and Artist. Also, for "File Name": Number - Title, Artist - Title, Artist - Number - Title, Artist (Number) - Number - Title, and Title. I would like to create my own "structure" by using wild cards or regex. Is this going to be possible in a future release? Why is it currently restricted to these formats? Are these the only possibilities for folder/music structure? Please be a little more open to different possibilities.

Hi, sorry no i haven't posted this upstream at either Bugzilla nor at RhythmBox's own site (if they have a separate forum there). I don't use RhythmBox at all yet and had just copied Frijolie's request from the Answers Section into here. I'm not completely clear about what Frijolie wants so i thought i would leave it to him/her to do any further actions about this extra functionality.

Hopefully Frijolie will post upstream at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME
or add something in to the brainstorming section

I heard a rumour (i don't know if it's true or not tho) that RhythmBox is no longer being developed! It seems that Banshee is set to take over as the default one for Ubuntu which seems a shame since it relies on the Mono programming system. Other people seem to be moving to Songbird, Audacious, Amarok or on Kubuntu to Exaile.

In a couple of weeks i need to start exploring the idea of moving a large cd collection onto computer and am a little worried that the project will use a Windows program rather than a linux one if i haven't learned enough to make a convincing case. So, i am glad this thread got bumped because i was about to invest a bit of time into exploring RhythmBox but one of the alternatives seems a better plan now :)

Presumably exporting from RhythmBox and importing into one of these other projects should become quite easy if it isn't already.

Thanks, good luck and regards from
Tom :)

closing the report then, if nobody wants to send it upstream there's no point to leave it open. Thanks.
