Openoffice 3.0.1 for linux install Error 7

Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Error: failed to extract the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) files. (exit code 7)

I'm trying to install 3.0 because 2 keeps crashing under Ibix and losing my work. But the install doesn't appear to be working. I looked on the openoffice website and its installation instructions only give rather frightening looking command line instructions. Is there somewhere I can point and click to sort this out?

thanks

a regular user.

I need actual logs to be able to determine what is going on. Is this failing to install the Ubuntu version of OpenOffice.org or the official version of openoffice.org from their website?

Hello Chris

Thanks for your message. Which logs do you need? And how do you want
them? I.e. should I cut and paste recent or just attach the whole file/s?

It is the official version of 3 I downloaded from the openoffice.org
website.

Cheers

Mark.
