Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems. http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

My dell laptop has a dvd +-rw burner and is running
Linux inigma 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 29 19:28:32 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Using Brasero
- Say New Video Project
- Press F7 (to show side panel)
- Click on Videos (or where ever you might have a video)
- Drag any .avi file to the right side (it will show a still scene from the video and display the duration and let you "rename" the title as well.
- Invoke menu option Project -> Burn

You will see the attached below image as a result. The content in the yellow is the thing in question.

I have libburn installed along with all gstreamer packages, vcdimager, cdrdao, ffmpeg, mplayer, mencoder, and numerous other things that might have been helpful.

WHAT is it that is missing which prevents me from burning a simple .avi file to a dvd? Just need to know that so I know what to install cause I can't figure out what it is missing is all really.

could you run brasero from the command line as: brasero --debug &> brasero-debug.txt perform the operation to reproduce the bug and attach the resulting file to the report?. That would give us more information about the error, thanks both!.

-I have also encountered the same probm on 9.04-x64 (x200 thinkpad) jaunty-b up to date as of today, I've been just upgrading since alpha 5.
-When I open brasero, click on video project, add a video (.avi or mp4 or w.e) and hit burn. I am greeted with the message "not possible with the current set of plugins"
-which I'll admit is better then before were I just had a grayed out burn icon in alpha 6 or so but still dosen't help me much :p. Is there maybe a file thats specifically missing for x64? I was looking in gnome's bug report and they said the problem was fixed, listing all the plugins needed, but I can't find all of them in the repos. I've tried installing just about any plugin i could find from the repos.
-unfortunately I had to resort to burning the dvd on a windows computer for the sake of time. :(

Thanks guys/gals! Let me know of anything I might be able to do to assist.

Debug log, generated using "sudo brasero --debug &> /home/hannah/debug.txt". Ran with sudo to see if this solved it, thinking maybe the user didn't have permissions to access a specific library or device. Hope this helps; we've been having the same problem trying to burn a few AVI's onto a DVD.

This is also the case on Jaunty Jackalope amd64.

When burning .mp4 or .avi (only two I have tried other than an image) to DVD via the New Video Project
