BCM43xx not working

Bug Description

Ubuntu Dapper flight 4
AMD64

Installation detects the broadcom wireless card but it doesn't install the firmware, and is too complicated to set up the network. It works with Ndiswrapper but first you have to uninstall the BCM driver with :

 rmmod bcm43xx
 gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

Is too complicated :S

At present we don't have legal permission to distribute the firmware - to make the device work, you have to use special tools to extract it from firmware distributed by others - so we can't improve this situation yet. (Remember that ndiswrapper doesn't work on powerpc, so owners of Apple PowerBooks with Airport Extreme devices cannot use it.) We have people working on getting permission.

I have more or less the same bug for my broadcom chipset on aspire 1513 (amd64).

0000:02:08.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 03)
Subsystem: Wistron NeWeb Corp.: Unknown device 1220
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 64, IRQ 177
        Memory at d0114000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]

It appears to associate with my access point (at ~1 meter from my laptop, without wep/wpa) but it cannot get an IP address.

Watching the interface eth1 with tcpdump, it appears the kernel doesn't send any packet ! I cannot see any dhcp/bootp packet. But I see incoming packets from my wireless router (broadcast udp for instance).

It looks like a kernel driver bug.

Same problem here.
Broadcom 4306, I installed the firmware that the readme asks for. But my card will not transmit.
It recieves, it sees my access point, but it will not transmit to it, or connect to it.
