Bug Description

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

I'm running jaunty, and I have a dell latitude E6400 laptop with a IDT High Definition Audio chip.
NOTE: I maxed all volumes in alsamixer.

when I lower the volume to 50% (for instance in the master mixer) the audio is almost mute!!!

Could you please download and run the script located here, http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh, and post back with the URL given to you when the script is run? Thanks.

kkHrm it seems that the URL you posted has nothing there, so it seems the script didn't work properly.

If you could run the script again like this, "./alsa-info.sh --no-upload" and attach the file /tmp/alsa-info.txt to the bug, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I can also confirm this problem on a Dell Latitude E6400. I think the speakers are also too quiet at 100%, they should be louder. At 60% I can hardly hear anything.

It does not seem a PA problem, since killall pulseaudio does not fix it

Changed in pulseaudio:
status: New → Invalid

In a recent fedora 11 update I got this issue fixed. unfortunately 1200 packages were updated, so I really don't know which package did the fix.

I have an ubuntu installation which solves this problem. But I don't know how I solved it.
Then if I boot from the final jaunty live cd, the problem persists.

Do you think that in some way I can figure out which change I did to bring the fix?
