Bug Description

I use a "Microsoft Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop" wireless keyboard + mouse combo. The keyboard has several multimedia and extended keys (Documents, Images, Music, Mute, Play/Pause, Stop, Volume Up, Volume Down, Rewind, Fast Forward, Multimedia, E-Mail, Web, Messenger, Calculator, Logout, Stand-by). Most of those keys have an action assigned via System > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts, yet none of the keys actually do anything when pressed (prior to fix of bug #311254, they used to crash X when pressed).

I followed the steps outlined in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting and found that:
- xev reveals no keypress events
- input-events reveals no input events
- acpi_listen reveals no ACPI event.

I'm therefore filing this against the kernel as per the wiki page above. I'm attaching the required information. Please, let me know if there is any other information I can provide.

Looks like the fix to bug #318261 also fixed my issues, so I'm marking invalid and duplicate.

If others are affected and the problem is still present, please feel free to reopen this bug.
