add a counter for tracking current number of characters used in translation strings

I got this feeling that it would be useful, for the sake of better wrapping long strings messages, to
display through an active script the information about the current cursor position in the textarea form, like X,Y coordinates
for {column,line}. Something very similar to tty and GUI text editors.

Particularly useful implement a count of characters currently used on the active line.
IMO this would allow a better management of those wrap-like operation for paragraphs needed especially when translated text is very different length-wise to the main-language one.

Maybe this is irrelevant or actually it is taken care of by the localisation software, I really do not know so I just thought it was worth mentioning it.
