Ok, maybe you could try to contact the spca5xx (that's your webcam driver) and ask him about V4L2.

But I'm using the same driver (with a different webcam) and everything works fine here, so you shouldn't worry too much :-)

My english is very bad. Mantainter of package conctac whit developer
of driver spca5xx for informate of topic.
