Cannot install 7.10, 8.04 xubuntu, Kubuntu on Averatec 3280

I do not get a login screen after the install of Kubuntu 7.10, 8.04 and Xubuntu 8.04 on an Averatec 3280 laptop ( 3270-EH1 )

Both gdm and kdm will not display the login screen after install of Kubuntu 7.10, 8.04 and Xubuntu 8.04.

The generic settings in xorg.conf do not allow a screen to display.

I solved the problem by adding

Driver "vesa" to the Device Section in xorg.conf

this allowed a login screen to be displayed.

Try a daily livecd of 9.04.

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

Please try jaunty alpha4 livecd, which has a newer version of the driver.

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
