[jaunty] unable to access ntfs partitions on my laptop

im trying to access my windows (ntfs) partitions from the places menu but i get an error reading this:

Cannot mount volume.
Unable to mount the volume.
can not get volume.fstype.alternative

and after some time another error window reading:

Unable to mount 76.2 GB Media
DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
