Bug Description

Binary package hint: gspca-source

I have a cheap webcam which just produces a blank/black screen. It appears to be supported by the gspca modules by dmesg report 'UKNOW SENSOR'.

lsusb details:
Bus 001 Device 010: ID 0ac8:307b Z-Star Microelectronics Corp. USB 1.1 WebCam

Vendor link:
http://www.shopxscargo.com/product_catalogue/cat_product_details.asp?category_id=13&product_code=24321&sub_category_1_id=41&category=Computers

I suspect that the coding of the sensor is just not recognised, so I loaded the module with extra debug ('sudo modprobe gspca_main debug=0x0F'). See attached files.

Testing performed on Jaunty Alpha3 Live-CD, as installed system is too old to support this webcam.
Simon.

Played with 'force_sensor' and xawtv

sudo modprobe gspca_zc3xx force_sensor=7:

Got a strippy multicolour image and lots of logs
libv4lconvert: Error decompressing JPEG: error: more then 63 AC components (68) in huffman unit

All other values produced blank screen.

Still not working under Jaunty alpha 6 :-(

So I took apart to take some internal pictures. The board is labeled 'ZS0211 + 6211', presumably this refers to IC and sensor.

Cheers,
Mungewell.

Possibly put on small carrier board?
