i had vlc crash with similar problem...

also since i'v upgraded to 9.04 , vlc plays video in a separate window, even though i have selected embed video in the settings...
how do i correct this?

It opened the same DVD ISO file (after "flashing" on and off a few times... kind of weird, that) just fine yesterday, with no crash. However, significantly less was going on at the same time then. This time Archive Manager was working at the same time, using up quite a bit of free memory piecing together a multi-part RAR. I'm assuming that this made the difference, but I'm just a demi-newb.

Can you please recheck with VLC 1.0.2 or later?

Embedded video was seriously broken in VLC 0.9.
