Can't resume after second suspend

Bug Description

I am using an HP/Compaq Presario C751NR laptop computer, with Ubuntu 8.10 x86_64 and Linux kernel 2.6.27-9-generic. I can suspend and resume properly one time only. On the second resume, the lights on the keyboard come on, but the monitor does not turn on and nothing happens. Apparently, the processor is on, because the computer gets hot fast without the fan.

I have tried disabling different modules, and I have tried various graphics tricks (in case that is related to the problem), all to no avail. I've looked over dmesg, and there are two lines reporting 'ACPI Exception' and one reporting 'ACPI Error', but I have no idea where to go from here. I will attach the output of dmesg before the first suspend, after the first suspend, and after running 'sync; echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace; /etc/acpi/sleep.sh force' as a second suspend and rebooting when the computer freezes. I will also attach the output of 'sudo lspci -vnvn' and of 'uname -a'.

Hi Chris,

Would you also be willing to test the latest pre-release of Jaunty (currently Alpha3). It would be nice to know if this issue exists in the upcoming release. You should be able to test suspend via a LiveCD - http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/ . Please let us know your results. Thanks.

No, Alpha3 doesn't work. I can still suspend once, but not twice.

Still a problem on Jaunty, 2.6.28-15-generic. I'm going to see what I can do to fix this (I have a little time to devote to some programming now), but I'm sick of seeing this "Triaged". There are big bugs with major features, and half the freaking kernel team is working on useless crap like mode setting. How about getting the stuff we should have working for Karmic, instead of trying to make the stuff we do have "shinier"??
