Bug Description
Binary package hint: quota
Quotaon/quotaoff will not operate on NFS filesystems, stating "Quota cannot be turned on on NFS filesystem". However, the 'stop' action in /etc/init.d/quota calls '/sbin/quotaoff -aug', which stats all NFS mountpoints listed in /etc/mtab. We run krb5 and when the system time is off, the system will hang on shutdown at "turning off quotas." Given that quotas cannot be enabled on NFS filesystems, quotaon/quotaoff should skip stat()ing their mountpoints. Furthermore, as we use the automounter the filesystems in question are not in /etc/fstab so this behavior is inconsistent with the man page which states (for quotaoff):
-a, --all
Force all filesystems in /etc/fstab to have their quotas disabled.
This report is against Hardy:
jwright-vmware1: ~ ] lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release: 8.04
jwright-vmware1: ~ ] apt-cache policy quota
quota:
Installed: 3.15-6
Candidate: 3.15-6
It still uses "aug" in karmic.
