I did an upgrade from Hardy to Intrepid. The old VPN connection didn't work so I removed it and added it again. Not sure why its send the computer name for authentication. I have everything setup properly and have tried many of the suggestions provided by others.

This also affects me, and I can confirm that the windows event log shows message that confirm that the client computer name was passed instead of the username.
