Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-utils

When I try to activate Tv-out to get an extra screen the whole thing freezes. And it is every time. Cant do anything in gnome. Have to go into console mode and restart the computer. When it starts up again tv out is working and everything is OK. And it works to deactivate the other screen but never activate.

This sounds like a XOrg issue, so reassigning. Please could you provide the following information:

1. Please run "sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci.log" and attach the resulting file to this bug report.
2. After you experience this problem, please attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old to this bug report.
3. Can you switch to a console when this freeze occurs (using CTRL+ALT+F1). It seems like you can, but could you just confirm this? If so, could you please run "dmesg > dmesg.log" from the console when the freeze occurs, and then attach the resulting file "dmesg.log" to this bug report.
4. If you can access a console when this freeze occurs, please try running "top" and seeing if anything is hogging the CPU.

Thanks in advance.

3. YES. I can switch to a console when this freeze occurs.
4. I ran "top" and viewed the info and couldn't find anything that looked like a problem. But didnt know what to look for either.

Thanks. Would you mind also attaching your /etc/X11/xorg.conf if you have one?

I have tried it on 9,10 and didnt get the same problem as before. So I guess the problem must be solved.
