Bug Description

I have just experienced a bug where Openoffice will install an extension correctly, but it will not show up in the menu bar and its buttons will not show up. I'm installing OpenCards (http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/OpenCards) on a fresh upgrade to OO.o 3.0.1 from https://launchpad.net/~openoffice-pkgs/+archive on Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit.

I have found further info here on this problem here:

At first I thought it might just be a bug with OpenCards, but the more I looked into it, the more I think other extensions are also having this problem:

I'm not 100% sure this is a bug, but it seems like it is. I can provide more info if needed. And to clarify, the OpenCards extension installs correctly, but the new menu doesn't appear (even after restarting OO.o). Installing ANY OTHER extension after OpenCards (and restarting OO.o) will cause them both to work.

It worked for me fine without having to install another extension, I just had to quit and restart OpenOffice.org.

Does this resolve the problem for you?

Thanks,

I tried that originally, and it didn't work. Were you installing Open Cards
with no other extensions already installed?

Yes, and I just tested it again by removing my openoffice.org configuration directory eg 'rm -rf ~/.openoffice.org' and then reinstalled OpenCards again. It did not show up after installing until I restarted OpenOffice.org Impress and then it was there to use and I verified the commands worked.

You may want to try installing the 'openoffice.org' meta-package which pulls most of packages in to see if that helps any, but it definitely works here in any case.

Thanks,

Chris Cheney
