Various Artist Not Accurate

Binary package hint: amarok

The various artists is not accurate any longer. I have a bunch of mix cd's bought from stores that used to come up in various artists (in Amarok 1.*) now they all come up under individual artists (despite the album names being identical and there being 6+ artists per album). I know that I can manually search for each album and then click on "show under various artists" but before this was automatically if an Album had multiple artists and we'd have the ability to uncheck the "show in various artists".

This is probably about Amarok 2? Then let me contribute!

In Amarok 2 in Intrepid. I tried to work around this by putting "Various Artists" to the artist fields of such albums. Then the magic happened:

1) There was a Various Artists under V with these listed correctly
2) The fixed various artists entry was displayed on the beginning of the collection list BUT it was EMPTY --> now I have albums lost from Amarok's sights :(

I confirm this bug in amarok2. Little bit annoying one.

Amarok 2.x lives in amarok from jaunty on.

You guys are right, early versions of Amarok were not yet feature complete and didn't have everything working out yet. But with the latest versions of Amarok (2.1.1) a lot of work has gone into the various artists detection and display. Would you mind updating and letting us how Amarok behaves with your Various Artist albums, and what it should do? Please report back the version of Amarok you're using (''apt-cache policy amarok'') too.

Seems like the same underlying issue as bug 319494, by the same reporter. I'm marking this bug as a duplicate of that one since it has more confirmation, so let's continue discussion there.
