Binary package hint: pidgin

tried to log into msn today with pidgin, got this dialog

Accept certificate for contacts.msn.com?

The root certificate this one claims to be issued by is unknown to Pidgin.

[view certificate...] [Reject] [Accept]

unsure what to do.

You can safely click [Accept]. I got this message too when I logged on this morning. As there isn't anything more an Ubuntu developer can do about this, and since this bug has already been reported upstream I am marking this report as triaged.

I just experienced the same issue. Interestingly it went away after I retried to connect...

Perhaps this has something to do with an invalid certificate? I just found this on google:

In short, the guy there suggests that some certificate is outdated and installing the current one fixed the problem for him.
