2-to-1 and 4-to-1 do not work

Bug Description

GNOME Print dialog features a combobox on the paper tab which supposedly allows printing 2 or 4 pages on one physical page. However, it doesn't work: the pages are printed one a page.

I'm using dapper, Evince is the application I've tried that with.

I have the same problem - both on Dapper (newest update 25/2/2006) and on Breezy.
Printing a pdf-document from evince and choosing 2 pages to 1 in the
paper-tab of the printer dialog results in printing the pages in a
1page to 1 mode.
