VLC player does not retain aspect ratio in playlist play

I am using VLC player for playing my movies/television serials. I set the aspect ratio to 16:9. It works fine for the video which is being played, but when the next video in the play list is played, the aspect ratio is not retained. The same is retained in other players like kaffeine but it is not retained in VLC.

This should be fixed in the upcoming VLC 1.0. In the mean time, you can save the aspect ratio permanently from the Preferences dialog or reset it every time.

As mentioned by the previous comment, does the problem exist with vlc 1.0? You can test this in Ubuntu Karmic, or Ubuntu Jaunty with the MOTU Media PPA at https://launchpad.net/~motumedia/+archive/ppa . Thanks in advance.
