Bug Description

No idea what occurred. Just received a message after logging on that some program crashed during log-on. I clicked on the notification icon and it invoked Firefox to send this error report. I am using
Ubuntu 8.10, installed in an XP Window in Partition D: (Partition C: contains the XP system and all the XP applications. Partition D: contains recovery tools for the Windows XP system (ACER TravelMate 2303LCi lap-top, using a Netgear 511G card (WLAN)) plus some miscellaneous stuff. The Windows XP recovery files are in their own (hidden) partition.

I have Ubuntu 8.10 installed on 3 different systems (desktop (in a WIndows XP partition (Wubi directory)), a\the ACER lap-top (also in a Windows XP partition (Wubi directory) and dedicated in a Toshiba Satellite Pro lap-top. There is no consistency in Ubuntu's operation across all three systems. On the desktop, I can connect to the internet with either a wired (LAN) connection or a Netgear WG111v2 USB connection. On the ACER, Ubuntu will not "connect" with the Broadcom IPN2220 nor the Netgear WG111v2 but will with either a wired connection or the Netgear WG511 wireless adapter. On the Toshiba, it will not connect with either Netgear wireless adapter but does connect with the wired connection. I have a Linksys 54G Router.
