after making panel height bigger desktop goes black

After restarting plasma everything goes normal.

KDE 4.1.96 (KDE 4.2 RC1)
Jaunty
I press this yellow button to get panel properties. I position my mouse on Height property, press it and move it up to make it bigger. Screen goes black like in sceenshot.
Yes I can always reproduce it.
I have Nvidia 7300Go.
Driver is 180.22-0ubuntu2

Happens here to with KDE 4.1.96 on Intrepid with an Intel video card of some sort.
