Bug Description

My laptop, a dell latitude d410 has no sound since upgrade to jaunty. All the impressions are that the sounds is working, I can adjust the volume, play stuff in rhythmbox et al, but I don't actually hear anything from the speakers.

gavinmc@bambi:~$ cat /proc/asound/cards
 0 [ICH6 ]: ICH4 - Intel ICH6
                      Intel ICH6 with STAC9750,51 at irq 16

I'll attach a full lspci output. Please let me know if there's more info needed.

Ah. I found this thread

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1036868

and looked in a little more detail at 'alsamixer -a 0'.

It turns out that while I had turned up the volume on the different levels, they were muted for some reason. Once unmuted (by pressing m), all is well now.

this was more user error that a bug.

it's confusing that all channels are muted, but I think the others have reported a bug on that.
