Keyboard stop responding in installer splash screen

In the CD boot menu selecting another language than English freezes the system.

Ubuntu Daily feb 15 and feb 16

In the Installer Splash Screen, you can select your language, the vga options... After having selected my language, the keyboard stopped responding and nothing can be selected anymore.

The same bug occured on a different computer.

I just tested Kubuntu Dapper Flight 4. I am getting the same problem. In the CD's boot menu, when you select another language than "English" the system will freeze.

I've reproduced this on Kubuntu DF 4 install and livecds, both i386 and amd64.

On DF 4, it only does it with French as far as I could test. Other languages I've tested worked fine, but selecting French crashes the keyboard layout. The arrows keys turn into number ones, and the Enter key stops working, too.

Do you plan issueing a new Dapper 4 version, in order for me (and
others) to test it w/ localization? if yes, how shall we know there's a
new iso to download and test?

I will give further information to this bug when I have it. There won't
be a re-release of Flight CD 4, though; a test image will be of the form
of a daily build or Flight CD 5.

Fixed. Tomorrow's daily CD builds should include the fixed version.

gfxboot-theme-ubuntu (0.1.14) dapper; urgency=low

  * Add the keymap menu to the short panel too, and move it to F3 next to
    language.
  * Update locale-to-keymap mappings from console-keymaps-at
    2002.12.04dbs-52.1ubuntu3.
  * Don't map keys that are special when unshifted; this caused problems for
    the French keymap, and made it difficult in general to get out of a
    keymap you selected by accident (closes: Malone #31767).

be the new version? otherwise, where do I get the "daily version"

No, just download from this website :

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/

Wait until tomorrow, and select the folder that corresponds to the current day (it will be 20060223 tomorrow morning).

I am afraid I have to reopen this bug report. I just tried the 20060228 daily Kubuntu i386 Install CD. I still get the same issue: I select "Deutsch" in the BootCD's language menu, then the system freezes.

I tried setting the keymap to "British" first, but that did not help. Additionally, I tried "Francais" and "Magyarul". Selecting "English" does not freeze the system, though.

Sounds like a different issue, since #31767 was very very specific to the French keymap.

I just tried the kubuntu daily 2006-03-05 image, and it works for me now. Seems this has been fixed for good.
