Bug Description

In my software-properties-gtk I have the tab updates with "check for updates" checked, and "donwload all updates in the background" selected.

Until hardy this worked: packages were downloaded without any intervention of me.

After upgrading to intrepid this setting aren't ignored any more.

Packages aren't downloaded until I invoke update manager and ask for updating.

It happens on both my two ubuntu pc's.

Thanks for your bugreport.

Could you please attach the output of:
$ ls -l /var/lib/apt/periodic
and
$ ls /etc/apt/apt.conf.d

It seems that my "sudo aptitude update" is returning an error code even if its output doesn't let suppose it:

On my system:

it doesn't execute the second command! That signifies that sudo aptitude update is returning an error.

So this would be an apt bug, is it true?

I had a canonical partners line in source.list. That line was responsable for the error. I removed it and all is ok.
