Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

I'm using firefox 3.0.5 with ubuntu 8.04 on an asus eeepc 901.

When listening to some music on the website www.deezer.com, after about 5 hours the music stops for many seconds then playback in accelerate for 1 second, and so on.. This happened with different songs.

Stopping and playing again the music doesn't solve the problem. Closing the tab corresponding to the website doesn't solve the problem neither apparently.
The only solution I have found is to close firefox. When I launch it again, I'm told it is already running and I must close it first. When I launch it a second time, it starts correctly and I can listen to the music again.

So far, I didn't find the problem on firefox 2 with ubuntu 7.10 on a desktop dell pc nor on the latest Camino with MacOS X 10.3.9 on an imac G5.

Don't hesitate to tell me if you need me to do more tests on my machine (and how to).

best regards

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Since this appears to be a sort of Flash issue, we would need to know which package you are using for Flash? Also, can you reproduce this issue if you try this on an Ubuntu 8.10 LIVE CD/USB?

The flash package used is the adobe-flashplugin 10.0.12.36-1hardy1.

It will take few days to test with ubuntu 8.10 as I'm not sure it works well with the eeepc.. I'll see and let you know.

Thanks for the response. I would suggest giving Eeebuntu a try, it is based on Ubuntu 8.10 and made specifically for Asus EEE: http://www.eeebuntu.org/ I currently use that on my Asus 900, and have had no problems.

Thanks for the advice.
I've been running the base version of eeebuntu-2 using a live-usb key for 2 days and haven't run into this problem after a little more than 7 hours of music playback.
I'll continue to use eeebuntu and see if the problem can happen with longer playback times.
