nm-applet disappears in 8.10 without keyring

Bug Description

Very quickly:

I'm running an EEE 900 on Ubuntu 8.10 with "Adamm's kernel". I can only see the nm-applet if I give the password to the keyring when GNOME loads. If my home wireless isn't in range, it won't ask me for the keys. Thus, unless I'm at home I can't connect.

I don't think this is like the other nm-applet disappearances... it's not crashing.

I walked about 100ft away from my router and reboot to recreate the effect. I walked back and logged back in.
