Run Epiphany
type web address in address bar, eg www.launchpad.net
press return (or click the go button)
nothing happens (webpage opens fine in firefox)

I just tried typing launchpad in the google search page (which is the
homepage) to see if I could open it that way, but Epiphay crashed when I
clicked on the link in the search results. When restarting I get the
crash recovery dialogue. Repeated and crashed again.

did you configure a proxy by some way?

As far as I'm aware I haven't (is it something I could have done by accident? - if so how can I check?). I don't need to use a proxy to connect to the internet (using Firefox or Konqorer).

I am still having the original problem.

Same situation here,
Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 "uname -a" says Linux ***** 2.6.27-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Jul 7 19:39:09 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux.

I put an address in the bar and nothing happens, i search in google, and when i click the link the program closes. The console throws:

** (gnome-www-browser:1026): WARNING **: Failed to instantiate LoginManager

** (gnome-www-browser:1026): WARNING **: EphyBrowser initialization failed for 0x980a8b8

Segmentation fault

It only occurs in epiphany-gecko, not wetbkit
