FTR: I didn't upload SQLAlchemy 0.5 to Debian unstable not only to ease testing reverse dependencies in Lenny, but also due to the fact that some reverse dependencies (like: migrate, anki or gourmet) are not compatible with 0.5 yet (i.e. "python-sqlalchemy (<< 0.5~)" will be added to some packages soon, if not done already)

Hi,

Thanks for the information. Is it likely that there will be 0.5 compatible versions
of those projects soon?

I use migrate with 0.5, but perhaps I don't use enough of the features to hit
the incompatibilities.

Thanks,

James

new migrate upstream release will be 0.5 compatible (it will even require it, IIRC) - one of upstreams (Jan) maintains the package in Debian and promised to release new version before Lenny release.
anki - compatible version will be uploaded to Debian soon,
imdbpy - should be compatible soon (it only suggests python-sqlalchemy though)
python-pylons - ready
zine - ready (requires 0.5)
griffith - ready

I'm not sure about the rest of packages

We should sync several rdependencies, this would require a good rationale at this point to proceed. If you think it's the case, please follow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess, otherwise I'd more inclined to see new set of packages directly in Karmic.

gourmet should be compatible with 0.5 since 0.14.5-1

 gourmet (0.14.5-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * new upstream release
   * 0.14.5 no longer conflicts with newer versions of python-pysqlite and
     python-sqlalchemy. Relax dependencies accordingly.
   * all patches have been pushed upstream, so they can be dropped in Debian.
The manpage was forgotten when preparing the tarball upstream, so it
will stick around for another release.
