Middle-click paste does not work

Pasting a link with the middle-click anywhere in the browser windows does not work with Ubuntu Firefox. In the original version from Mozilla it works, so it's not a profile issue...

have you installed any extensions?

Ubuntu Dapper, Firefox 1.5.0.1 with Adblock, Webdev, Fasterfox extensions.

This setting was changed some time ago in ubuntu's default preferences. See https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/8647 for more information.

Well, at least this change can be reverted with userpref.js. But I consider this as one of the best features of Firefox, while it does not get in the way too much for non-experienced users...

If you're serious, can you reopen the question on ubuntu-devel ?

(Personally, I happen to agree with you but the last time this was
discussed there seemed to be a consensus in favour of the change.)

As long as I can override this setting to enable middle-click paste again, I'm happy...

Also, note that if you middle-click on the icon (where the favicon
appears) at the left of URL bar, you still get the paste-in-page
visit-new-URL behaviour.
