Bug Description

I have used this HOWTO to set up a keyfile for my encrypted home partition.
http://www.howtoforge.com/automatically-unlock-luks-encrypted-drives-with-a-keyfile

This work very well.

Now, I tried the same HOWTO for setting up a keyfile for my encrypted swap partition and that fails. I am still asked for the passphrase of the swap partition. That may be because the swap partition is mounted before the root partition. The keyfile is then not available, yet.

This my configuration.

I am using Ubuntu jaunty jackpole daily from 10.01.2009

I have setup full disk encryption a while ago. If I remember right I only have one logical volume for encryption and a boot partition . Here try using this guide http://learninginlinux.wordpress.com/2008/04/23/installing-ubuntu-804-with-full-disk-encryption

Ok, I am currently trying this out.

But isn't it possible to set up a keyfile for the swap partition?

I also doubt now that the title of the bug report is right because I have
to type in the passphrase of the root partition before the passphrase of
the swap partition. So I think the root partition already is mounted before the
swap partition but then I don't understand why the keyfile is not being used.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs.
