Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I have a song filename 'Route 66 - John Mayer.mp3' with title 'Route 66 - John Mayer', artist 'Cars Soundtrack', album 'Cars Soundtrack'. I wish to change this to read title 'Route 66', artist 'Cars Soundtrack' same Album. Unfortunately when I try to change this it shows a change but upon clicking on anything it immediately reverts to the initial state. I've tried using other software to alter the tags (EasyTAG 2.1.5) which successfully changes it according to itself, but fails to change it in Rhythmbox. In Thunar file manager, I can successfully change the data, but also fails to alter it in Rhythmbox. I have tried removing and reimporting the song, but that fails to fix the problem. The problem only seems to apply to that particular song.

I am using Xubuntu 8.04 LTS if that helps, with Rhythmbox 0.11.5.

I suppose all I can do is give you the song itself to try in Rhythmbox 0.11.5. The bug by its very nature is reproducible (if it wasn't reproducible, it wouldn't be a bug).

could be similar to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362876 where ape and mp3 tags are available and rhythmbox displays the ape ones but don't edit those

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the current Ubuntu development version, this would help us a lot. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 315708, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

This is almost the same issue reported in bug #530372 but only with different distribution, Ubuntu 9.10.
