adept does not find new updates

Bug Description
On my laptop with Kubuntu 8.10, the "new update avaible" trayicon (is correct english trayicon?) does not appear. If I try to open adept and do fetch package list, no new update is avaible.
Instead, doing from the konsole "sudo apt-get upgrade", I can normally download all the new updates.

Starting with Kubuntu 9.10 the update notifier does not actually do update notification anymore. Those are now handled by kpackagkit.
Therefore I am now closing this report as wont fix. Thank you for your time nonetheless :)
