config-package-dev version 4.9 includes several bugfixes over 4.7.

It builds, installs, and runs on both Hardy and Intrepid

The Debathena project at MIT (http://debathena.mit.edu) uses config-package-dev 4.9 extensively across several releases, including Hardy and Intrepid. It's a build dependency for several dozen of our packages. There are 5-8 Debathena developers, all of whom would have config-package-dev installed on their personal machines, including some who use Hardy and some who use Intrepid. It's also installed on 20 demo workstations across campus.

I don't know how much that counts for coming from the person who opened the bug, but config-package-dev 4.9 is no less solid than 4.7 as far as I know.

It looks like this bug requests a backport from Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope). However, as Jaunty is no longer supported, such a backport is no longer possible.

This bug is being set to "Won't Fix". If you would still like to move forward with this backport request, please re-open the bug and adjust it to request a backport from a current release.
