Bug Description

Binary package hint: emacs-snapshot

The toolbar in Emacs 23 is using the official GNOME icon set. But there is a problem with the "help" icon when I startup emacs-snapshot-gtk: it's sort of at the wrong place, more upper left than it should be. I'll try to attach some screenshots.

Once Emacs is running and the toolbar is reconfigured at least once, then the help icon is back it its normal place by the way.

I just played around a bit more and it seems that it works fine with some icon sets but not fine with others. I still think it's an Emacs bug because it does work e.g. if I do

M-x tool-bar-mode
M-x tool-bar-mode

ie, switch the toolbar off and on again.

I played around a bit with the GTK themes and this can be fixed by changing putting something like this in your gtkrc (for the respective theme):

gtk-icon-sizes = "gtk-large-toolbar=32,32:panel-menu=24,24:panel=24,24:gtk-dialog=64,64"

and you might also have to delete some "unwanted" icons in your icons folder which do not have the right size 32x32.

OK, this was more like a theme problem than an emacs problem, so I set this to invalid.

Changed in emacs-snapshot:
status: New → Invalid
