Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdemultimedia

Hi,

I'm using an up-to-date kubuntu ibex on a dell mini 9''.
The problem is that the backlight brightness is jumping around.
It looks like random. It jumps up and down without a simple pattern (AFAICS).
/sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/actual_brightness is always in between 0 and 15.
The only workaround is to set the correct brightness using something like:
echo 10 > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness && rmmod video (then of course the brightness is stable).

Is works with the ubuntu preinstalled by dell.
That is why I'm filling this bug report against kdemultimedia...but I'm not sure...
It may be due to the fact that actual_brightness is only in a 0 15 range.

This is probably a duplicate of bug #278471.

Hmm, somebody said this before in more drastic terms but Kubuntu is a bit unstable at the moment.
