Bug Description

Recognition of USB Kodak ESP All-In-One Printers in Ubutnu but NOT functional, printable or Scannable. Use of these devices in VirtualBox has reported FULL access & functionality. The problem seems to be in the hardware access of Kodak chipset. Kodak needs to adapt chipset or design UNIX/LINUX software to hardware access. Similar problems to be reported with Texas Instruments hardware as well. We contacted Kodak about this issue & received the SAME yet GENERAL response. There are many who have asked of Kodak & pointed this shortcoming for over 5 years.

OK. We contacted Kodak about this & we got the same ALL around Double Talk AGAIN. With the introduction of Kodaks' NEW line Of All-In-One's, there is NO WAY they could not have seen this market! Here's the response we got;

WE ASKED KODAK----- Question: You NEED to begin development of UNIX/LINUX drivers. I am Co-Owner of a small business in Greeley, CO. USA that installs LINUX ONLY for customers & we DO a HIGH volume of business with many customers who have Kodak printers &/or scanners. After seeing our wonderful work & FREE software migration, they have NO problem leaving there Kodak equipment behind & going with HP equipment. We would prefer buying NEW ESP ALL-IN-ONE devices from you, but if NO drivers, NO MONEY FOR YOU! Hopefully, you will consider the MILLIONS of dollars you are loosing.... My name is Jay P. KODAKS RESPONE-----

[I]Greetings Jay ,

Thank you for visiting the Kodak web site and your inquiry regarding Kodak support for Linux operating system with Kodak products.

Currently there is no support for Kodak products on the Linux OS by Kodak. Our Kodak software engineers are well aware of the Linux operating system. We appreciate your concern for this operating system and interest in enabling Kodak products to work with it.

We are glad to be of service and are here for you if you need us in the future. If you do reply, please be sure to include any previous e-mail so we may assist you better.

Regards,

Eric H.

This is the SAME response they have given for the past 5 years pertaining to ANY of there equipment. It seems Kodak is acting like the Microsoft of the new millennium. END
