Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

Hi!
I can't select Asturian language in gnome

I have installed the Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) and 8.04 (Hardy Heron).

I am not able to select Asturian language when login in gnome (when starting a session).
The Asturian language is just missing from the list of languages.

I have also installed English and Spanish languages which work fine. Somehow,
only Asturian gives me this problem.
If I uninstall Spanish language, only appear English in the Login Window.

Best regards.

My problem is similar in 8.10

I use Asturian language, and I created a new sesion for a friend who only speaks Spanish. In the login window, I set "Choose language" and set "Spanish" for his sesion (he prefers Spanish language).

After this, I couldn't use my session in Asturian language because it no appears in "Options" in the login window. So I tried from System => Administration => Language Support but no results.

First I had to delete all packages of language and then install Asturian language packages. Now I can use Intrepid in my language, but after login + password the following warning appears:

Language es_ES.UTF-8 does not exist; using System default

Hi! ;) What's happen with this bug?
Please, fixed it! We have more translations, and we can lose it if the user don't know that he must remove all languages, except asturian language.
Thanks!

Hi Sebastien!
This bug is fixed for Ubuntu 9.10 karmic alpha 6 :D
Thanks very much for your work!! We're very happy!

I find 2 littles bugs:
  1. We must have installed the Asturian & Spanish language in Ubuntu. By example:
      a. Asturian & Spanish & English languages installed: If I choose the Asturian language in GDM, Ubuntu appears in Asturian.
      b. Asturian & English languages installed: I can choose the Asturian language in the GDM, but Ubuntu appears in english.
This is a little bug, because it isn't normal has installed only English & Asturian. Do you know something about this issue? :)

  2. Never appears the Asturian keyboard variant in the GDM. If the Asturian keyboard variant is choosed in System/Administration/Keyboard, in the GDM appears "Spain" variant, not "Spain (Asturian variant with bottom-dot H and bottom-dot L)" variant.

Do you like that we create another bug for this littles issues?
You can close as solved this bug!
THANKS VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!!
Cheers! Marcos.

A note, if it's easy to fix: The width of the phrase "Spain (Asturian variant with bottom-dot H and bottom-dot L)" is very large, exceeding the width of GDM screen.
Could be shortened to "Spain (Asturian)" (English) or "España (Asturianu)" (Asturian)?
Thanks.
