thank you for your bug report, does the bar moves while playing or not? is your issue specific to manual changes?

I've seen the same issue using this feed.

It seems the problem is with M4A files. Feed or non-feed items.

The seek bar position just stays at the start all the time. User is unable to seek in file.

Didn't try jaunty yet.

I think it's a problem in de codecs? It may be related to #296991

I can also confirm this bug with all the M4A files I have encountered so far.

If you need any more information or a tester, I'm willing to assist.

Tried in Jaunty today. Rhythmbox version is: 0.12.0-0ubuntu4
See no_seeking.png: the seek-bar is not moving and not seekable. The play-time indicator is updating though.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the current Ubuntu development version, this would help us a lot. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 313587, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

I get the described problem (see attachment). There is a related discussion here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1204619 I'll try out the proposed solution and see what happens. My experience of this bug is that it does not seem to be format-related, where I have observed flac files sometimes doing the same thing, and sometimes behaving correctly. I need to do more testing because I have two separate instances at home and at work and haven't had time to get to the bottom of the pattern (if any).

Ah - sorry I've commented on the wrong bug! This happens with files in my music collection, not podcasts (too many tabs open!)
