Bug Description

Hello, when i am watching a movie on VLC ( Don´t know if this happings on Dragonplayer ), then after awhile my screenlocks and screensaver popups and screen gets locked, i don´t know if this is KDE4.2 related, or ubuntu, because i found another bug claiming exact the same problem, but that was under Totem and not VLC, this is happing since awhile, i have sorted al kind off settings, and they seem to be fine, i had disabled my screensaver, but that didnt work.

Going see if it works when i enabled screensaver and set timer on 200 min, but still this seems a bug, that is still not fixed, you can reproduce the bug easy, just watch a video around 40 min, it happend 2 times in this 40 min by me, so i gues it happens every 15 min?

I believe this is related to Kubuntu, i can be wrong ofcourse.

This is what i did when it happend, i put movie in full screen, go watch, dont touch a mouse and after a while flop, screensaver and screen gets locked.

Found this on KDE bugs, it seems to be a setting in Powerdevil, so i think to fix it that we would disable it standard? Because most normal users dont come across that setting.

The bug that you have their has been resolved in 4.1 apparently so this must be a regression. As a temporary fix you may have to disable the screen locking and screensaver until this is investigated.

Go to:

System settings -> Advanced tab (have you noticed that you use the advanced tab more than the General tab) and select power management.

Select edit profiles on the left.

I changed the performance settings as my laptop is usually plugged in when I watch a movie on it.

Change the 'When the system is idle for more than' setting - I selected do nothing.

The right hand pane is arranged in to a most strange vertical tab arrangement - select screen from that and set the screen not to power off.

This suits me as when the screen is due to switch off it never works. That said I have probably tainted this report as from the 30 or so faults I have been involved with here none have been fixed until the new version of Ubuntu arrived. Infact the most critical one 284229 - I am surprised more haven't joined in there.
