Bug Description

Binary package hint: evince

Scanned 2 documents on MS Windows machine at local FedEx Kinko's shop, using OmniPage software. Saved as PDF files and verified that they displayed correctly using Adobe Acrobat Professional. Copied to flash drive and took them home to e-mail on my Ubuntu laptop. Evince displays garbled versions of the documents, with overwriting of text on text, wrong font sizes and loss of much information. Same documents display normally in KPDF 0.5.9, using KDE 3.5.9. The documents contain sensitive information, so I can't attach them here.

Ubuntu 8.04 and Evince 2.22.1.1

cuong, why did you mark this as confirmed and assign it to yourself?
hugh, if you don't show us the pdf file, how are we going to solve this issue?

I think the problem is with the Windows program that created the files.
They are attorney-client files, so I can't share them. My attorney
couldn't read them on his Mac either. They view fine with KPDF or
Win-Adobe Acrobat, so I think maybe there is a problem with the PDF
coding, not Evince. You can close the bug report if you wish.

closing the bug since that would require an example for debugging and that doesn't seem to be an evince bug
