Bug Description
During installation, I am given a text login screen and installation stops. [ubuntu@ubuntu:$]
I removed the -quietsplash option and found that the installation stops whilst trying to launch 'ubiquity'.
An 'XServer Error ' is thrown with the message: X server failed to start after 60 seconds.
A few other tests pass and then installation gives me a login prompt as above.
I tried using the 'Alternatives' install-CD; same problem!
However, the installation went smoothly when I installed Ubuntu 8.04.
I then upgraded from this to 8.10. This went fine until the system rebooted giving me the same problem as above - a login screen with no X.
My system specs:
Dell Precision T7400
Intel Xeon Processor @ 3.2 GHz Quad Core
Two 512 Nvidia Quadro 1700 graphics cards.
4 GB RAM.

That has happened to me during installation once. Turned out my disc didn't burn the iso correctly. Do a MD5 sum check to determine if the disc checks out ok.
