Mute key has no effect on volume

Hi, pressing the mute button on my keyboard pops up a notification indicating the volume has been muted but the sound is not muted. Right-clicking on the volume applet and clicking mute mutes everything but the line-in sound. I'm using intrepid with all updates applied. I've attached the contents of lspci -vvnn. Here's some additional info:
