Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu.

Description: Ubuntu 8.10
Release: 8.10

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy packagename' or by checking in Synaptic.

firefox:
  Installed: 3.0.5+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.10.1
  Candidate: 3.0.5+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.10.1
  Version table:
 *** 3.0.5+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.10.1 0
        500 http://ftp.ticklers.org intrepid-updates/main Packages
        500 http://ftp.ticklers.org intrepid-security/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     3.0.3+nobinonly-0ubuntu2 0
        500 http://ftp.ticklers.org intrepid/main Packages

3) What you expected to happen

When I save a web page from firefox, I would like to be able to see network drives as well as local drives in the gnome file save dialogue / dialog window. The same is true for file uploading. In other gnome apps, e.g. gedit, I can see the network drives.

4) What happened instead

I only see local drives.

Update - I am guessing this is something (all) to do with gnome-vfs in that firefox does not talk to gnome-vfs whereas gedit does.

Changed package from "firefox-3.0" to "firefox". This bug still applies and shouldn't be expired.

(Btw. who is allowed to set the status to "confirmed"? Everybody? And why was this bug in "incomplete"? What was missing?)
