Bug Description

I believe that the problem is with the libsdl-sound package not being the same as the main libsdl package.

Updated info:
If I remove the libsdl1.2debian-all package & install libsdl1. 2debian- pulseaudio, Sauerbraten will start normally. Interesting that sound is not available with "all' that is assumed to have such.
So it looks like the old libsdl-sound1.2 package is not to blame--It now looks like the bug should be filed with the libsdl package.
