Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

Before upgrading to Ubuntu 8.10 I used to have an icon on my desktop which linked to ssh://<email address hidden>/mydir.

Now, I have two problems (I do not know if they are interconnected):

1) to get to the same dir, the URL is now <ssh://<email address hidden>/home/user/mydir> rather than the above
2) even after changing the URL, and creating a new link on the desktop, the link does not persist through a logout/login cycle: after a logout/login, the icon on the desktop changes its shape to a diamond and double-clicking on it generates an error which invites to dispose of the icon in the desktop.

While item 2) above is a duplicate of bug #287476, item 1) above is not.
Should I file a separate bug report?
